David Lee Peters died peacefully on November 14th, 2018. He was born September 5th, 1938 in Bluefield, West Virginia. He graduated with honors from Marshall University in 1960 and then graduated from Purdue University in 1965 with a PhD in Industrial Psychology. He served in the military from 1961 to 1963.

He worked for Eli Lilly for 27 years in Human Resources as an organizational psychologist. During this time, he relocated to Germany as Head of Human Resources for Lilly Germany from 1972-1976. He was known for his innovation and leadership. In 1992 he took early retirement and started his own successful consulting company, Peters and Associates. One of his passions in life was helping others discover and develop their strengths and offer their gifts with confidence. These skills, when applied to corporate settings, fostered more creative and profitable work environments.

David was a loving, gentle soul whose kindness touched all who knew him.  He was also a great conversationalist who inspired many people. His hobbies included gardening, boating, reading and photography.

He is survived by his loving wife Rosanne Megenity Peters, by children Susan Fitzpatrick and Robert Fitzpatrick (son-in-law) Katherine Peters, (her partner Rich Figallo), sister Pamela Esch and five grandchildren, Tristan, Ashley, Taylor, Alyssa Fitzpatrick and Matteo Lee Figallo. He was preceded in death by his first wife Juanita Wheatley Peters.

A very special thanks to his caregiving team for the outstanding care they gave him.

A Memorial Service honoring his life will be held at: Indiana Funeral Care, Harry W. Moore Chapel, 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis IN 46250. On Friday, December 7th, 2018. Visitation will be from 2:30-4:30 pm with a service to follow at 4:30.

To David’s daughters and grandchildren, his wife and most especially his “little” sister. My sympathies on your loss. Plase be consoled that he is at peace and that, as a family, you spent so much time and love keeping him company on his difficult journey. He was enveloped in the heart of his family through it all. God keep him until you meet again.

I only knew David for a short while. He had a way of touching ones soul quickly. He was always enthusiastic about helping others regardless of his sorrows. A strong, sincere individual who truly loved others passionately. I Thank God for allowing me to meet this great man, his beautiful wife RoseAnn and daughter Kathy. Prayers for all, always.

I first met David some 30 years ago when I was interviewed at Lilly. I had completed my Doctorate at IU and had been working at the old Blue Cross And Blue Shield of Indiana. Even though I was not selected for the position, we connected. A few years later we reconnected via Landmark Training. We became good friends and David entrusted me with giving him advice in the stock market. I advised him not to be to risky with his portfolio and stay with solid companies which provided a consistent dividend. He was a good listener. Our contact soon was limited to phone conversations and his energy was always present. I am sad by his passing but I do know he is at peace. May his memory be a blessing to all who loved him.

Those who knew him say he was good, kind, and innovative: a powerfully positive combination. His family’s loss is great.

I only met David once at a family gathering in a beautiful park called Sycamore Springs in English, Indiana. David was delightful and full of spirit and energy. He made me feel like we had known each other forever, and he told wonderful stories of his life and travels. I was so thrilled for Rosanne to have found such an incredible soulmate! My deepest condolences to the Peters family upon the loss of such an amazing father, husband, and grandfather!
    Sincerely, Tresa Megenity
